When assessing an executive candidate, the bar is raised high as it comes to listening skills
When assessing an #executive candidate, the bar is raised high as it comes to #listeningskills. We would like to experience an interaction with someone who listens well, hears us with authentic curiosity.
However, sometimes the interviewer tends to forget that there are also expectations placed on them: what they say has to be engaging, they need to check if the other person is interested and what they are saying makes sense to the person submerged in the act of listening.
We can’t expect to produce never-ending monolgues and then criticize the interlocutor for their impatience or inability to listen well, if in fact we are the ones who are not respecting balance in the conversation. Giving space to our expression, but also space for responding to it. Dialoguing with #respect for our interlocutor.
